A few comments on the Jan Paagman Sterrenwacht / Pieterse Planetarium in Asten & the Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker, The Netherlands.
From the early 1980's to nearly 1995, I was associated with the Verreniging Jan Paagman Sterrenwacht (JPS). This is located with the Nationaal Beiaard en Natuurmuseum in that town. During that time, the Museum acquired the Pieterse Planetarium and installed it with the JPS. My interest in astronomy then expanded to include Planetariums.
Partly because of this, I developed an interest in the Eise Eisinga Planetarium, but had never had the opportunity to visit it. Recently, my granddaughter's paternal grandfather honored me and my wife with a personal tour of that area of the Dutch Province of Friesland and primarily, the Eise Eisinga Planetarium. This was very definitely an experience of very much more than 'worth the trip'. Some highlights are below. For interior scenes and more details, please refer to the links provided. The first two pages below were printed in the 'New York Times Style Magazine', Travel Winter 2009 - otherwise, undated.
